PEARLS Charity Auction 30 October 2013

2013 Auction

Our fundraiser for 2013 was a wonderful night resulting in us raising over $73,000 for preeclampsia research. Our new sponsors, Porsche Centre Sydney South assisted in making the evening very special by providing a 911 for the evening and donating an invitation only drive day, which was hotly contested in the auction. Gorgeous items from Raphael Jewellers, Alex Perry, Mark Morffew and a range of Australian artists were auctioned by Anne Phillips. Alex Perry was on hand again as our MC for the evening which concluded with our traditional “pitch for a pearl”, a quoits game where there were 9 south sea pearls won.

PEARLS Charity Auction 1st November 2012

We held yet another successful fundraising evening with the theme "art, food and wine". Auction items were donated by a range of high profile Australian artists, including Peter Godwin, John Reid, Charmaine Pike, Euan McLeod and Daniel Kyle. Auctioneer Anne Phillips did an amazing job with a hugely fun crowd of 140 people. Other auction items included packages from the Golden Door, Karma Kandara in Bali and the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. Our long term sponsors Raphael the Jewellers, Mark Morffew Photography and Alex Perry outdid themselves this year with amazing jewellery, photography packages, and couture.

Alex Perry hosted the evening, with speakers Professor Annemarie Hennessy and Dr Vijay Roach. Dr Roach explored the relationship between preeclampsia and post natal depression in his presentation.

We raised in excess of $70,000 which will go direct to the medical research projects managed by Professor Hennessy as well as our continuing awareness program.

PEARLS Charity Auction 19 October 2010

We held our second Charity Auction on the 19 October at the Mint in Sydney. It was a fabulous night with many fabulous donated auction items including artwork from leading Australian artists Peter Godwin, Euan McLeod, John Reid and Campbell Robertson- Swann. Raphael the Jeweller also donated some gorgeous south sea pearls and a special neckpiece. Alex Perry was a wonderful sponsor and Master of Ceremonies for the evening. We raised a fabulous $56,000 on the night which will support the research programs presently underway by the PEARLS scientists. Thanks again to all of our sponsors and donors as well as the attendees on the night who all contributed to make the event a huge success.

Our next event will be a very special event to mark PEARLS' 10 year anniversary. If you would like information about any of our events please contact us.

PEARLS also held its annual fundraising event at the Sydney Mint in 2009. It was a unique event focusing on an art auction co-ordinated by Defiance Galleries’ Campbell Robertson-Swann and Lauren Harvey, with auctioneer Georgia Pemberton of Sotheby’s. Our Patron, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of New South Wales attended and gave the keynote address. Once again Alex Perry was our MC for the evening.

The support for the evening was overwhelming and over $70,000 was raised.

Thank you to all of our sponsors who donated fabulous artwork and other items for our auction, and to everyone who attended.

PEARLS Event at the National Art School, Sydney

In 2008 PEARLS’ annual fundraiser was a wonderful dinner at the Cell Block Theatre in the historic National Art School in Darlinghurst, Sydney. There was a live auction of donated items, as well as a silent auction.

The MC for the evening was Alex Perry and our guest speaker was Professor Jens Corssens of the University of Western Sydney who spoke of the amazing work being done by the research team headed by Professor Annemarie Hennessy.

It was a very successful night with over $50,000 raised.
